James Soria, who has been with Heights since 2019 under coach Stephen Dixon, has officially taken the linne coach role at Madison.

Soria, the third head coach in team’s recent history, will replace Jason Davis, who produced a 12-10 total during his tenure over two seasons and took the team to the playoffs in both.

Soria had the opportunity to glimpse at student-athletes he would be working with in the coming months as he spoke about the Marlins' organization philosophies.

'What I really like is to show them that I can be upfront with them and while talking to them they listen to me. " The 40-year-old coach said.  'They make eye contact with me, and Excierd!Being in the presence of the weight room colleagues was a great thing and they do put every effort they got. The butterflies in my stomach are crazy, and I am eager and ready to hit the field with my team-mates. ”

To Madision's dismay, it is three consecutive seasons when they achieved the playoff but can’t get a victory yet. Marlins' last postseason winning took place in 2008, Atascocita overwhelmed the Marlins 13-10 in bi-district playoff game.

“The past and the traditions have been here.  The history of winning the teams and the years before the victory were here”, Soria declared. “They have already sought help from a number of pro-NFL players and major college football players through the program.  They are not rebuilding, as they are just trying to get back to what they have always been.  It’s now up to me and my staff to deliver and continue what used to be a tradition of winning. ””

Soria spent 12 years in coaching role,  companied by many schools: St.  Pius, Houston Austin and Texas City. Being a graduate of an HISD school – the same one that he graduated from – he deemed it a fulfillment of his dream as the new coach of Madison High school.

"I find the way couch is already accurate:”The admiration for me to say that my first head coaching job will be in the Houston ISD,” she said. "Honestly, Houston ISD has been the place where I have spent most of my time during school, as well as coach.  Being here in the district and leading the program reminds me that I’m just blessed to stay in the school district, which is the best thing that I ever have. "”

Soria, returning as the former assistant offensive coordinator/offensive line coach at Heights, will have 24 players who played under her tutelage last season. He wants to do it in such a way as it can be added to his record.

"I tend to put the ball either on or through the scoreboard," Soria said. “We come in with me having been a run-game coordinator.  The game is going to be won up front on either side of the ball.  I know I can better the fronts, and that would help the running back and wide receivers and the quarterback to produce the offence and free the tight end, linebackers, runningback and safety. ”

Soria, too, is planning to ensure his players are ready for off-field activities.

"They don’t get to choose where they want to go but we can take them there," he added. "Being a star college football player being our target, they are destined to make it happen.  Being the one who only want to go college, we'll get them on going on the right path.  Either they want to a school or learn a trade, they'll still be able to fulfill their dreams. "
